Gisira, from the Arabian land between the waters, indicates a fertile and fortunate land.
The Gisira Farm, located in the heart of the Val di Noto, has been operating in this land for over 60 years. The sight, the smells, the flavors, are still those of the past. The scent of fruit and olive trees blends with the rich flavour of baroque art.
We have been working in biological conditions for almost 20 years. We believe that this is the best way to respect the Earth, its present, its past and the future of those who come after us.
Gisira is a dream born over 60 years ago when the first terrains of Podere Gisira were bought and made useful for the cultivation of a first citrus garden.
Since then, over the course of three generations, we have cultivated these 20 hectares of land and have enjoyed the colours, scents and flavours that this land gives us. Gisira is still a family thing. The dream is that this can continue for a long time. A family united around nature, the feast of the harvest and the rhythm punctuated by the seasons.
Organic is not a brand. Organic is a choice made 20 years ago.
We firmly believe that nature is a beautiful thing to enjoy. That's why we respect it and we carefully pamper it.
We want those who come after us to have the pleasure of living these lands and enjoy them as we are doing.
We believe that eating good and healthy is a right as well as a pleasure.
We commit ourselves every day to this because it is our way of being happy.
We grew up with the smell of freshly franto oil; The nights in the oil mill waiting for the first oil to come out; The slice of bread with the oil a safety at every meal.
Gisira is an extra virgin olive oil obtained from Moorish cultivars (70%) and Verdese (30%).
We collect by hand and squeeze the olives within a few hours of harvesting. For some years now we have been anticipating the harvest compared to the times of tradition. We want to be sure to squeeze when the olive is perfectly healthy and ready to give its best. We get a better quality at the expense of quantity. And we're proud of it.
"the nose expresses fruity notes of medium intensity with hints of grass and artichoke and subtle sensations of almond. In the mouth It is round, sweet, little bitter and slightly spicy".
In This area of Sicily, since antiquity, the land cultivated with citrus fruits are called "gardens".
The word garden represents well what the citrus fruits are to us. They are beautiful trees, cultivated with care. They are coloured and perfumed fruits.
In the garden you can come in and enjoy the walk. There is nothing more beautiful, in the right season, than to collect the fruit from the tree, peel it with your hands and eat it with taste. The taste will feel in your mouth and the scent will remain on your hands throughout the day.
We have citrus and vitamin C for all Seasons! We produce navel oranges (November-January), Tarocco (January-March) and Valencia (April-May), Pink Grapefruit (October-February) and Lemons (October-June).
A few years ago we decided to do something new.
Sicily has an incredible time and then why not exploit its climate to try something different?
We studied and dedicated a part of our land to some experiments. Today we have 2 hectares of avocado in production and we collect the first satisfactions of our studio.
We collect avocado-type harse and Bacon from November to January. We do it passionately. And above all we do it organically.
Nero D'avola and Sirah are the traditional vines in our territory. For years now we have been breeding a few hectares of vines.
It's our hardest cultivation. The one that asks for more care. "A vineyard is community na Figghia Fimmina" said Grandpa Angelo comparing the commitment and care that must be devoted.
Also for this the Red roses at the beginning of each row. The roses for this female daughter of Gisira warn us if any disease is about to hit the vineyard. In this way we can anticipate the cure, naturally BIO.
Between a row and the other, in the middle of the gardens, under the drywall, we cultivate some goodies.
The oregano, the capers, the almonds, the nespole, the Locust are some of the products that we have fun to cultivate.
Every now and then we invent a new one. We like to try, and learn what Nature wants to show us. Sometimes we're wrong, sometimes we get great satisfaction.
At Gisira we believe that the direct relationship with the consumer is the best way to give value to what we do.
We listen to the needs of those who eat our products and guarantee freshness and quality. The relationship with our customers makes us grow every day and makes this job the most beautiful in the world: a work done by cultivating nature and talking with people.
We have been collaborating for several years with solidarity purchasing groups (G.A.S.) and organized groups. We ship all over Italy immediately after harvesting. We want our fruits, in the hands of those who consume them, to know more about Sicily.
Relationships, exchanges, shares have arisen from these trade relations. This is the real added value we get from our customers.
